Satori could be described as “A flash of Inspiration” an “Ah Ha” moment of great insight and power. We’ve all had them. Sometimes we take action, most of the time we don’t. A Satori is a gift from universal consciousness, and for a very small slice of time, a mere sliver of existence following that idea, before anything that comes next, we have the ability to consciously create not only any next action, but indeed our whole world!
Saturday, I saw Jill Bolte Taylor’s: My Stroke of Insight. on TED. Wow! That was the most amazing 18 minute experience. I was literally glued to my monitor; I couldn’t move other than to get myself comfortable. I’ve studies the brain, left & right thinkers and their traits, there’s a lot of searchable and free Internet information, but I’ve never seen this vivid an explanation, indeed experience, of this material. It was a paradigm shift as Steven Covey would say, that clearly separated and distinguished the two separate brain functions, and did it in a way that I won’t have to remember and that touched, moved, and inspired me. Now I have new options as a result of this gift.
The rest of Saturday was amazing on a diminishing scale moving through what I had already scheduled, or what I created in the moment. Sunday was alive with possibility looking forward to and prepared for a long awaited meeting with my daughter and son-in-law to discuss their buying their first home - Very exciting as I anticipated my behavior in both left (analytical) and right (experiential) brain activities. We went to a movie, had dinner, I prepared for the week ahead, watched a little TV & went to bed. Monday was a very usual set of goals, tasks, phone conversations, and activities I call work with some family time. And now here I am writing this early in the morning.
Satori’s are usually object based and some like mine are conceptual. But regardless of their nature, I believe you and I don’t take advantage of these gifts. As a matter of fact what we do is busy ourselves with the seemingly important tasks of life. We almost never use those very small slivers of time between the Satori and our next action or thought proactively to choose a new set of actions or behavior that would change our life if we did. I suggest you pay close attention next time it happens to you and remember what I said about using that gift wisely. Just for a moment discard all the chatter that normally fills you head and life with a few quite moments of contemplation, even meditation on how you could use what you’ve been given to make a difference!
